We have seen the devastating impacts of inequity, injustice, and racism on Black and Indigenous peoples both around the world and in our own communities. Wellbeing Waterloo Region recognizes that racism is happening in our community; it is a longstanding and deep-rooted issue which necessitates transformational change across systems. We are committed to working together differently across our networks to address systemic racism as a barrier to equity, inclusion and wellbeing.
There are many issues of inequity that have been amplified by the COVID-19 pandemic.
In order to encourage dialogue and understanding of equity issues during the COVID-19 pandemic, WWR has been collecting articles on the topics and has created a Prompt for Discussion document which highlights some themes from the review of current research and articles.
A PDF version of the Prompt for Discussion is available here.
If you know of any articles related to how COVID-19 is impacting vulnerable communities and intensifying or creating health inequities please send links to these articles to Wellbeing Waterloo Region at hello@wellbeingwr.ca so that we can add them to the Prompt for Discussion.
